WHAT OUR FILMS ARE MADE OF
WHAT OUR FILMS ARE MADE OF
Our home compostable materials consist of a compostable barrier, sealing layer and a paper as an outer layer. The paper is home compostable certified and consists of a purely bleached pulp made exclusively from primary fibers.
Our compostable barrier- and sealing film, produced in our own facility, consists mostly of natural resources such as glucose and waxes, and therefore has a lower CO2 footprint than materials obtained from fossil fuels.
Industrial compostable films are often made of PLA. This raw material is obtained from corn starch and can only be composted under industrial composting conditions.

Home Compost
"Home compostable" is a packaging that fulfills the following criteria: Compliance with certain limit values Complete biodegradation of 90% within a max. of 12 months below 30°C Disintegration test of max. 180 days at a temperature of 25+/-5°C Ecotoxicity test Disposal takes place in the garden compost or industrial composting plant, as well as in some European countries in the waste paper cycle.
Industrial Compost
"Industrial compostable" is a packaging material that meets all the requirements of EN 13 432: Compliance with the limit values (listed in table A.1) Complete biodegradation (90%) within a max. of 6 months at 28°C Disintegration test of no more than 6 weeks at a temperature between 55-60°C Ecotoxicity test Disposal in industrial composting plants as well as in paper recycling cycle (although this is only possible in some European countries)
Compostability in general
Simply explained: compostable* packaging will turn back into humus after disposal - on which new plants will grow - which can in turn be used for packaging - thus closing a cycle
